foil classes

Foil Classes

Originally developed as the training weapon for rapier, foil is a thrusting weapon where only the torso is a target.  Lightweight and fast, foil follows right-of-way rules. Like all fencing weapons, foil provides a great core workout, builds stamina and confidence as you learn to think strategically.

What to Expect

After completing your Beginning Fencing class you can pick your weapon.
Choose a class based on the fencers age and skill level.  Are you a new fencer?  The developmental classes are the place to start.  Choose a class based on the fencers age and skill level.  Developmental classes meet 3 out of 4 times a week.  If you are serious about making this your competitive sport, join our competitive program.  Competitive fencers receive weekly private coaching, footwork class, fitness class and competitive fencing classes.  Competitive fencers are expected to participate in competitions on a monthly basis, and attend between 3 to 5 practices a week, depending on their age and goals.  All types of fencers are equally welcome and receive the same great coaching.  Fencers are typically able to start competing 6 to 8 months after they begin their foil classes.
Our club $200 annual membership fee  and a USA Fencing Membership is required for participation in any of our fencing classes including Open Fencing and private lessons.  Uniform rental is available for $35/month.  You must be a Nova club member to enroll in the classes. Our Recreational Plan starts at $235/month and our Intensified Plan is $405/month.
