- Junior Olympics 2026
- New Dates: The 2026 Junior Olympics will take place Jan. 9–12, 2026 (including Junior, Junior Team and Cadet events). This earlier date is a change from past seasons, so please mark your calendars!
- Regular Fee Deadline: The regular fee deadline will be Nov. 5, 2025. As in recent seasons, the regular‑fee deadline will fall before the qualification window closes. This timing lets us release time schedules when members need them while keeping the qual window as wide as possible. Best practice: If you’re still chasing qualification after regular fees close, register anyway. Should you come up short, we’ll issue a full refund of your JOs event entry fee — the same flexibility we’ve provided the last couple of years.
- Adjusted Qualification Window: To ensure fencers have plenty of opportunities to qualify and tune up before the rescheduled JOs, the qualification period will run from Dec. 11, 2024, through Dec. 10, 2025. All results from national and regional tournaments within this window will count toward qualifying for the 2026 Junior Olympics. (In other words, events in that timeframe are the ones that matter for earning your spot at the 2026 JOs.)
- Age-Out Timing Change (Junior/Cadet): Beginning with the 2025–26 season, Junior and Cadet fencers will “age out” of those categories after the February 2026 NAC. Originally, age-out would have occurred right after JOs, but we’ve adjusted it to after the Feb NAC. This keeps the season’s timeline consistent with previous years – allowing age eligible fencers to compete in the February NAC of 2026 before they age out. It also means the number of national events counting toward Junior/Cadet World Team selection remains similar to the past.
- New Dates: The 2026 Junior Olympics will take place Jan. 9–12, 2026 (including Junior, Junior Team and Cadet events). This earlier date is a change from past seasons, so please mark your calendars!
- Mixed Age Eligibility for Regionals: To bridge the gap between the old schedule and the new one, there will be a mixed age eligibility period for regional events after the qualification window closes:
- Regional events up to Dec. 10, 2025 will follow the current season’s age eligibility rules (often referred to as Schedule A).
- Regional events from Dec. 11, 2025 until the Feb 2026 NAC will use a mixed age schedule. This means these regionals will be open to fencers who are age-eligible under either the current season (Schedule A) or the new season (Schedule B) for Junior and Cadet categories. In practical terms, for those couple of months, fencers can compete in whichever age groups they’re eligible for under either schedule.
- Regional events after the Feb 2026 NAC will then follow the new season’s age eligibility rules (Schedule B only). After the February NAC, everyone will be on the new birth year schedule going forward.
- Regional events up to Dec. 10, 2025 will follow the current season’s age eligibility rules (often referred to as Schedule A).
